The Scott Machado Express has a new destination.
Machado, the former Iona point guard who won MAAC Player of the Year honors last season before signing with the Houston Rockets and playing most of the year in the NBDL after a cup of coffee in the NBA, was traded to the Santa Cruz Warriors of the D-League this afternoon.
Machado leaves the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to move to the Golden State Warriors' developmental affiliate, and was traded for seven-foor center Chris Daniels and a second-round pick in the 2013 NBDL Draft.
Machado had been averaging 10.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 29 games for the Vipers this season, essentially shuttling between Rio Grande and Houston all year. Should he manage to secure a second callup to the NBA, he will have the opportunity to learn from one of the best at his position, in the form of Warriors head coach and former Knicks point guard Mark Jackson.
As always, A Daly Dose Of Hoops will have updates on Machado as they become available.
