Normally laid back and not one to erupt, Chris Mooney's double technical foul in final seconds helped Charlotte steal Atlantic 10 Tournament victory over Richmond. (Photo courtesy of the University of Richmond)
Quotes from Richmond head coach Chris Mooney on the final seconds of Richmond's 68-63 loss to Charlotte, one that saw Mooney get called for a double technical foul with 4.7 seconds remaining in regulation, allowing Charlotte to make eight free throws to steal the victory:
"I'm obviously disappointed in how the game turned out, especially the ending there for me. I didn't necessarily see what happened on the free throw, but the officials explained to me that Derrick (Williams) shoved their player. At that point in the game, we wanted the foul (up three) because they couldn't make a game-tying three."
On what caused the bench to get the technicals:
"The bench, meaning me?"
More from Mooney on the final seconds:
"I'm shocked. I don't think we played great, but we certainly did some good things. We only had three turnovers the whole game. It's a devastating way to lose for me. We were in a position to win the game. I was probably too upset, and I apologize. It shouldn't have ended like that. I can't take it back...I wish I could."
