Fordham University has brought another highly touted recruit to Rose Hill, as head coach Tom Pecora announced the signing of Eric Paschall, a 6-6 forward from Dobbs Ferry by way of the vaunted St. Thomas More Prep program in Connecticut.
"We are all thrilled to have Eric join the Fordham basketball family," Pecora said in a release issued by the program tonight. "He is an important piece to the process of our future success, and he will have an immediate impact to our program when he joins us next year."
As a junior at Dobbs Ferry High School last season, Paschall averaged 26 points and over 11 rebounds en route to becoming just the fourth underclassman ever to win Mr. Basketball honors in Westchester County, joining NBA stars Elton Brand and Ben Gordon, as well as UMass junior Jabarie Hinds, who played for Bob Cimmino at Mount Vernon High School, as did Gordon.
In Paschall, the Rams get a dynamic frontcourt scorer to replace Chris Gaston, who graduated this past May. Along with a backcourt that includes freshman sensation Jon Severe and rising star Mandell Thomas, who is in his sophomore season, Fordham's newest arrival will be a major building block for years to come.
"It feels good right now, and I'm so happy to have signed with Fordham," Paschall said. "It's a perfect situation for me, as it's a great academic school that's close to home, and I have a great relationship with the coaching staff."
