It has been a longer and more traveled road than some may have envisioned, but the destination appears to once again be the NBA for Scott Machado.
One month ago today, the former Iona point guard and MAAC Player of the Year was acquired by the Santa Cruz Warriors of the NBDL, with the Warriors' parent club, the Golden State Warriors, signing him yesterday to a 10-day contract. At 44-33, the Warriors have five games remaining in the regular season, and are currently the sixth seed in the Western Conference.
Machado, who averaged 6.5 points and 3.4 assists per game in Santa Cruz, will once again wear No. 1 with Golden State, just as he did in his prior NBA stint, which culminated with him scoring eight points in six games for the Houston Rockets before being waived on January 7th. The 22-year-old Queens product will be coached by fellow New York point guard Mark Jackson, who of course starred for St. John's University and the New York Knicks, and will be able to team up with one of the NBA's rising stars in Stephen Curry, two associations that will help Machado's game greatly both now and in the future.
A Daly Dose Of Hoops will continue to update you on Machado's career as often as possible.
