“He’s got some soreness going on with his body. I found out he wasn’t going to play at the shootaround. I don’t know the timetable, I don’t know too much (but), he’s got some soreness going on.”
On Seton Hall’s response without Richmond:
“I thought we came out, obviously if I would have known he wasn’t going to play a couple days ago, I probably could have had some stuff going on in practice and made some other guys (fill in). But when you find out at 2:30-3:00, it’s kind of hard to adjust your game plan for stuff like that. But for the most part, I thought we came out, when we ran our offense, I thought we got some good stuff. When we didn’t run our offense, we kind of struggled. I thought we ran our offense and got the lead up in the second half, and I tried to get some main guys some rest and Providence came out, made a couple threes, and then we came back in and we weren’t in sync at all. And I think that was the difference.”
On Al-Amir Dawes running the offense:
“Al’s a basketball player. He played point guard in high school, he’s been a playmaker for us. I thought he did a solid job, I thought he got a little tired down the stretch, but when you’ve got guys like (Devin) Carter and (Jayden) Pierre guarding you the whole game, they’re two good physical defenders, I thought they wore him down a little bit.”
On Isaiah Coleman’s first career start:
“I thought he was solid. I thought he came in and found out this afternoon, took the challenge and I thought he played well. Obviously when you lose the game, it’s kind of hard to sit back and say who played well. We didn’t get the job done, and I’ve got two days to try to figure out what we’re going to do against a good Marquette team.”
On turning point after Providence erased Seton Hall’s 10-point lead:
“I just said it, Jerry. I took some main guys out, we stopped running offense, they made a couple big threes in the second half, they got some runouts and when I put the guys back in, we were kind of out of sync. They did a good job of taking us away, they were denying Al and making somebody else bring the ball up playmaking. I thought it was really hard. When you’ve got two of your top main guys — I don’t think Dylan scored today, I thought he played hard as heck, he had 10 rebounds, but I need him to score the basketball. He’s 0-for-13 and Dre’s 4-for-11, that’s two of our top guys that we need to score, right? And even with all that being said, we were up 10. I don’t know, we just got out of sync quick and we stopped running offense, trying to go one-on-one against a good defensive team, and that didn’t work.”
On his concern about Richmond’s status:
“How many times did y’all ask the same question, fellas? I don’t know! When I find out, I’ll let you guys know. You ask the same question five different ways. I don't know, big dog! And when I find out, I’ll let you guys know. I don’t know the concern, I know he’s got some soreness, it had to be really sore that he couldn’t go. I’m sure he’ll get evaluated tomorrow and try to figure it out.”
