KeVaughn Allen: Inside The Numbers

By Ray Floriani (@rfloriani)

NEW YORK -- Chris Chiozza hit the shot not to be forgotten anytime soon in Gainesville.  Chiozza’s running, buzzer-beating three-pointer propelled the Gators into the East Regional final as they defeated Wisconsin in overtime, 84-83.

Not to be overlooked, however, is the night KeVaughn Allen had on the Madison Square Garden floor. The numbers of Florida’s sophomore guard:

Field Goals: 11-for-24
Three-Point Field Goals: 4-for-12
Free Throws: 9-for-10
Points: 35
Assists: 1
Turnovers: 2
Blocked shots: 1
Steals: 1
Minutes: 37
Effectiveness factor: 36 (per minute: .973)
NBA efficiency rating: 22

The Linton scale rates Allen’s effectiveness per minute in the star category. Few, no matter your allegiance, would dispute that label on this semifinal performance.
