Updated after Thursday’s Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action, here are the MAAC tournament seeding scenarios for each team, listed in order of current standings from first to last:
Iona (16-3): Has clinched regular season Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship and automatic bid to National Invitation Tournament. The Gaels will play the #8 or #9 seed in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 9, at 7 p.m.
Saint Peter’s (13-6): Has clinched a first-round bye and will finish as #2 or #3 seed. The Peacocks control their own destiny for the #2 seed, and can clinch it with a win vs. Fairfield Saturday.
Siena (12-7) : Has clinched a first-round bye and will finish as #2 or #3 seed. The Saints can clinch the #2 seed with a win at Canisius Saturday AND a Saint Peter’s loss to Fairfield Saturday.
Monmouth (11-8): Has clinched the #4 seed. The Hawks will play in the quarterfinals on Thursday, March 10, at 9:30 p.m.
Marist (9-10): Can finish as #5 or #6 seed. The Red Foxes control their own destiny for the #5 seed and a first-round bye, and can clinch both with a win Niagara Saturday.
Fairfield (8-11): Can finish as #5, #6, #7, #8, or #9 seed. The Stags can clinch a first-round bye and the #5 seed with a win at Saint Peter’s Saturday AND a Marist loss at Niagara Saturday.
Niagara (8-11): Can finish as #5, #6, #7, #8, or #9 seed. The Purple Eagles can clinch a first-round bye and the #5 seed with a win vs. Marist Saturday AND a Fairfield loss Saturday at Saint Peter’s.
Manhattan (8-12): Can finish as #7, #8, #9, or #10 seed. The Jaspers will play in the opening round on Tuesday, March 8.
Quinnipiac (7-12) Can finish as #6, #7, #8, #9, #10, or #11 seed. The Bobcats will play in the opening round on Tuesday, March 8.
Rider (7-12): Can finish as #7, #8, #9, #10, or #11 seed. The Broncs will play in the opening round on Tuesday, March 8.
Canisius (5-13): Can finish as #9, #10, or #11 seed. The Golden Griffins will play in the opening round on Tuesday, March 8.
