A message to our readers

Before we pump out some more season preview content in the hours leading up to the first ball being tipped Wednesday morning, it’s only fair that you get some sort of update on how coverage is going to proceed for the next five months.

We know this is a season that will look and feel nothing close to what we are all accustomed to. That fact has been rammed down everybody’s throats since March 12, when the current state of affairs intensified enough to steal our game out from under the hardwood on which it is contested. But just because the setup is different does not mean the sausage will not be made the same way.

At the present moment, any decisions on whether or not to physically attend games will be left up to the discretion of each individual staff member. As founder and managing editor, I will not force anyone to do anything they are either not comfortable with or what I would not do myself. And personally speaking, almost all of my coverage will be done virtually this year, because if I can save money on transportation — those trips to the RAC add up, you know — why wouldn’t I put some back in my bank account now that I have a chance? (The site is largely financed out of pocket, but it’s a labor of love!) Not only that, but for me to go to an arena and not be able to share the full experience with you would be doing anyone who reads anything in this space a major disservice. But again, if anyone else on staff decides to show up on site, that decision is theirs and theirs alone.

Over the next five months, we will strive to uphold the same standards we have spent 11 years perfecting and constantly improving. A change of scenery may be an inconvenience, but at the end of the day, our goal is to not let it interfere with what so many of you have come to trust and enjoy. We can get through this together, and it is our hope that you come along to share yet another ride. If not, just know we still appreciate you anyway.

Stay safe, stay blessed, and may your seasons and lives be full of prosperity and joy.
