Steve Masiello is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Manhattan’s head coach, now in his ninth season at the helm, has received a three-year extension on his contract that will keep him in Riverdale through the 2022-23 season, athletic director Marianne Reilly announced. CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein was first to confirm this report, followed by an official release from the school.
Masiello, 42, has taken the Jaspers to two NCAA Tournaments in his tenure, winning back-to-back Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championships in 2013-14 and 2014-15. In his first season as head coach, in 2010-11, he oversaw a 15-game improvement as Manhattan went from a six-win program to 21 victories and an appearance in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Previously, his last extension came in 2016, when then-interim athletic director Tom O’Connor added four years to his contract shortly before the MAAC tournament began.
“I appreciate having the ability to continue to lead the men’s basketball program here at Manhattan College,” Masiello, whose 138 wins rank fourth-most all-time in program history, said in a release. “I’m excited about the future of this program, and am grateful for the commitment of our administration in supporting our program.”
“Steve has been a great mentor to our student-athletes throughout his time at Manhattan College,” Reilly added. “We have a young team that is improving every day. We’re looking forward to having Steve continue to lead this group and build on their success.”

At 11-10 this season, the Jaspers have won three straight games to sit just a half-game out of first place in the MAAC standings, and are 7-5 in conference play entering Friday’s clash with local rival Iona.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
