Sha Sounds Off: Georgetown

On how Seton Hall won, and what he disliked:
“It matters. Obviously, you want to get the win, that’s important, but it definitely matters how you play. I didn’t like us tonight at all. I don’t understand why you’d come out like that in such an important game at home. I get it was an early tip, but like I told the guys, it doesn’t matter who’s in the stands, if it’s packed or if it’s not. We gotta bring our own juice, and we just didn’t have it. I thought Femi had it most of the night, I thought KC had it at spurts, Tyrese had it, but we didn’t have it as a group.”

On late free throws:
“Yeah, man. I tell you guys this all the time, nobody shoots free throws more than us. Even through our walkthrough today, I made sure each guy got up at least 50. It was good to make them down the stretch for a lot of reasons, for confidence and also to make sure these guys understand the work you put in is what comes out of it.”

On Femi Odukale’s energy:
“I told him, he played well the first game against them down there. He was very active, he rebounded the ball well, he had good energy. He did the same thing in the first half for us today. He’s an important part of the team.”

On Kadary Richmond:
“I was just talking to him about that. He’s gotta understand that when you’re the guy, you want to be the guy, you’ve gotta make sure you’re coming out every night and setting the tone. I thought tonight he didn’t really do that, and down the stretch, we can’t afford for him not to do it, and not just him, any of the guys. Everybody’s banged up right now, everybody’s got some type of stuff going on, but it’s go time right now. That’s not an excuse.”

On Tyrese Samuel’s paint presence:
“I think it was good. I think the last game, he had a double-double as well, if I’m not mistaken. It was good. Tyrese has been solid the whole year for us. He’s a guy that’s kind of been consistent, and we need him to be consistent moving forward.”

On Seton Hall’s rotation:
“You know what? It’s just a feel. It’s a feel, and Tae, I want to give Tae a lot of credit. Tae’s out there battling and playing, he never played that position before and we’ve got a bunch of guys playing different spots because of injuries and stuff like that. But I want to get some more minutes, I need to get him some more minutes, because he’s a real important part to our team, not just now, but in the future as well. I’m proud of him because he just brings it every day in practice.”

On facing UConn at Gampel Pavilion Saturday:
“It’s very important. Every game is important. It’s gonna be a tough environment. Tomorrow, I’m gonna give these guys off and then we need a day to get refreshed. Our schedule’s just been so hectic the last couple games, we’ve kind of been playing a game here and then one day of prep and then go. Some of these guys need a day off just to kind of refresh because they have two solid practices on Thursday and Friday, and go into a hostile environment trying to get a win.”

His message to Seton Hall fans down the stretch regarding crowd support:
“You know, Jerry, it’s tough for me to answer that. I want to answer it in a different way, but it’s Valentine’s Day, right? So I think a lot of people are out with their significant others, whatever. I’m just happy that the people came out, I want to thank them for coming out and spending Valentine’s Day with us and supporting us. And moving forward, yeah, I would love a sold-out crowd. I would love to have the building jumping. This is a tough place to play when the building’s jumping. That’s not on us, the only thing we could do is do our part. Our part is to just come in and be prepared and play. That’s above our pay grades.”
