“I just think that when Tyrese got his fourth foul — he hit the three and went and got his fourth foul — I thought we played well for 34 minutes. I thought the last six minutes, we just lost our minds not playing disciplined. We didn’t play disciplined and it cost us. It’s frustrating because it’s a game that I thought we had, a game that we needed at home, I thought the crowd was great. Like I said, for 34 minutes, I thought we played as well as we’ve played in a long time, then the last six minutes, we lost our mind and stopped doing the little things, stopped being disciplined on offense and defense, and it cost us. Taking questionable shots that led to runouts for them, then losing — I don’t know how to say his name, I don’t want to mess his name up, 55 (Baylor Scheierman) — him, he hit two big threes. Those are things you can’t do against a good team.”
On Tray Jackson:
“I think he’s starting to understand what’s going to get him on the court and keep him on the court, and that’s just battling and playing defense. I thought the last four games, he’s been doing that and I think he’s playing better because of it. And we need him. I keep telling him he’s playing out of position, but this is our team, this is what we have.”
On Kadary Richmond’s frustration with Ryan Kalkbrenner’s defense:
“I don’t know, that’s tough to answer that question because I thought the officials did a good job of calling the game, but he’s an aggressive driver. I thought he could have gotten a couple of calls, but that’s the game. I’m not saying nothing bad about the officials, I don’t want you guys putting that in the paper or printing that, I’m just saying that we’ve just gotta cash in, man. I thought it was both ways, I thought they didn’t call a lot. It was equal to some point.”
On louder crowd reactions to Seton Hall’s defense:
“I guess. Like I said, I thought our guys battled and the fans were good, the crowd was good tonight. We had an unbelievable chance to get a big win at home and we kind of let it slip away the last four minutes, last six minutes of the game.”
On Creighton’s 3-point shooting:
“I thought, like I said, for 34 minutes, we did a great job of knowing who was who and not letting them — I don’t want to double and give up shots, so we don’t do that — and I thought we had a great game plan, but we took some bad shots that led to them getting some fast break points, and then now we’re kind of falling asleep. They got a shot and they got a three, and the next thing you know, you went from being up six to being down one because of some questionable shots and not really understanding who’s who on defense, not locking in. And that’s not being tired. Guys want to play, you want to play and guys have been playing these minutes, but that’s not an excuse. We just lost focus.”
On Dre Davis’ availability Saturday at Villanova:
“I don’t know, Adam. It’s game by game, I have no idea.”
On Seton Hall’s success on the road:
“I told the team this in the locker room: On the road, we have a sense of more togetherness. You have to on the road, you’ve got to have that sense of togetherness, but sometimes when you come home, man…you’ve gotta start forgetting about where we were, what guy is playing the way we were playing, because no one cared about the success, everybody just cares about winning. Sometimes when you come home, you kind of get tweaked a little bit. You’re home, obviously everybody wants to play well in front of their family and friends, but then sometimes we do some things out of character that we don’t do on the road. So we just gotta pick it up, we gotta have a couple days of solid practice — well, one day, we can’t really do too much tomorrow — on Friday and then try to go to a place where it’s hard to win. (Villanova’s) playing well, they’ve got their whole team back pretty much, and it’s going to be a tough game.”
