MAAC Monday: Seeding scenarios, stat leaders, power rankings

The penultimate MAAC Monday of the 2020-21 season opens, as it usually has in the next-to-last editions of our weekly Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference recaps, with a look at all possible seeding scenarios for next week’s MAAC Men’s Basketball Championship, held at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City from March 9-13, 2021. Presently, no seeds have been clinched, but four teams — Siena, Monmouth, Saint Peter’s and Marist — have each clinched first-round byes into the quarterfinals. In addition, five teams remain in contention for the fifth and final bye at this time. Only Iona, currently on a COVID-related pause and on the short end of almost every tiebreaker, and Rider, who is on the short end of group tiebreakers involving Siena and Saint Peter’s, cannot mathematically clinch a bye. Updated stat leaders and power rankings will follow the seeding scenarios, which will be listed in order of each team’s MAAC wins, from most to least:

  1. The ball is in Siena's court! If they get healthy and Pickett
wakes up they are a formidable force in the MAAC. They would represent
The MAAC very well in The Tournament!

    1. Even better if Iona comes back and wipes the floor with them.

  2. Saint Peter's cannot finish as the 5 seed as they have 9 wins, and anyone that could catch them had 6 wins with just 2 left to play.
