Sha Sounds Off: Georgetown

On Dre Davis’ recent form:
“I think it’s a credit to the work he’s putting in every day. He’s one of those guys that’s an everyday guy, he’s been an everyday guy since he’s been here. Last year, he had some knee stuff but this year, he’s been taking care of his body and coming in. He’s been our workhorse and everything he’s doing, we need it a lot. I thought the last couple games, I thought teams were trying to take him away, like Providence and Creighton. We kind of worked on some things in practice to free him up a little bit, but it’s good when he could get going and get Al going, get Kooks going, get Dylan going, those guys and all the guys that we need to get going. Dre carried us today, but he had a good week of practice too.”

On Davis’ rebounding:
“That’s something that we’ve been working on. I want everybody to crash the boards. I thought tonight, Supreme (Cook) did an unbelievable job, and not just him and (Dontrez) Styles. Those guys did a good job of hitting the offensive glass and it killed us, so I’m disappointed in that. But we’ve been making a conscious effort on doing a lot of box-out stuff, because I think my guards need to rebound. I think a couple games, Dylan had eight, nine, ten rebounds, so we gotta keep those guys rebounding.”

On defending Georgetown's Jayden Epps:
“He’s a good player, he’s a scorer. He takes a lot of shots, so you’ve gotta hope you’re playing decent defense and you could contest him. I think tonight, he shot 13 threes, so you’ve just gotta make sure you’re making it hard for him.”

On Seton Hall’s performance and rotations:
“Big East basketball, man. When you have a long layoff like we had, you kind of want to see how we would get back on the court, the sense of urgency we were going to have. I thought we came out with some juice, not in the first four minutes, but after that, I thought we had some juice the whole first half and from there, it was kind of just going with the flow, right? I also did some stuff on off days I should have never did. I gave these guys three days off, but I think they needed it for their bodies. I also think it hurt us just from a being sharp standpoint, but I think it’s going to help us in the long term with their legs. I gotta find a way to get Jaquan Sanders some more minutes. He can help us, he can shoot the basketball, he’s been practicing well. I gotta find a way to get him some minutes, and obviously Isaiah, him stepping in the way he did when Kooks was out was really good for us. And I thought tonight was good for Elijah. He came in and I thought we needed him to bang against Supreme, and he did a good job.”

On balancing playing time for his bench:
“Yeah, that’s a good question. The feel for the game and me making subs early, but sometimes it’s just a feel for the game and you see how the game is being played to kind of get going. I told our guys I gotta trust them in practice. If I trust you in practice, I trust you in the games, and I thought they’re doing a better job of that. So it gives me a couple days — we’ll go play a good Villanova team on Sunday — gives me a couple days to mix and match a little bit. But getting back to Jerry’s question, the rotation is the rotation. I’m not set with it, Jerry, it’s kind of like how I’m feeling when somebody goes in. If you play well from a defensive standpoint, you play more minutes.”
