Two all-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference selections have been invited to compete in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, and for the fourth consecutive year, the Iona Gaels will be represented in Virginia.
David Laury, who captured MAAC Player of the Year honors this season while leading Iona to 26 wins and a second straight National Invitation Tournament appearance, will compete in the 63rd edition of the Portsmouth Invitational, which begins Wednesday to showcase some of the nation's finest talent in preparation for June's NBA Draft.
Laury averaged 19.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for the Gaels this season, and will compete for the Cherry Bekaert team, which features VCU's Treveon Graham and Ohio State center Amir Williams among others. He joins Mike Glover, Lamont (Momo) Jones, and most recently, Sean Armand, as players from the Tim Cluess era to receive an invitation to Portsmouth.

The East Orange, New Jersey native will not be the lone MAAC talent in the field, as Quinnipiac's Ousmane Drame will compete as well. Drame, whose final collegiate game saw him pull down an impressive 27 points and 23 rebounds in the MAAC Tournament against Marist, will play for the Portsmouth Sports Club team that also counts Dayton guard Jordan Sibert and seven-foot shot blocker Youssou Ndoye of St. Bonaventure on its roster. A second team all-MAAC selection and the conference's Defensive Player of the Year, Drame averaged 14.9 points and 11.2 rebounds per game for Tom Moore's Bobcats, and his 20 double-doubles ranked tied for fourth in the nation.
