This is a new feature for us, one in which we take a closer look at the final box score and point out some of the stats you may not see right away. We hope you enjoy our first trip "inside the numbers," reading between the lines of Monmouth's 57-50 win over Marist in the MAAC opener for both teams:
0.79 - Marist's final point per possession total, correlating to an offensive efficiency of 79. The Red Foxes scored 50 points in 63 possessions.
0.89 - The points per possession total for Monmouth, who managed their 57 points in 64 trips down the McCann Arena floor.
1 - As in the first career three-pointer for Marist center Eric Truog, who scored it with 2:12 remaining in regulation to trim an eight-point Monmouth lead to five.
1:42 - The amount of time into the game before Marist's Chavaughn Lewis, an all-MAAC selection going into his senior season, went down with what head coach Mike Maker believed to be a sprained ankle, an injury that sidelined him for the remainder of the night.
3 - The total number of players on both sides that did not score in the game.
4 - The number of steals for Marist guard Manny Thomas in 38 minutes, accounting for half of the Red Foxes' thefts.
5 - Rebounds for Marist guard Nick Colletta, a team high.

12 - The number of points for Monmouth point guard Justin Robinson, matching his jersey number. All of Robinson's points came in the second half as the native of nearby Lake Katrine, New York enjoyed a successful homecoming.

31 and 33 - Turnover rates (in percentages) for Monmouth and Marist, respectively.
