Steve Masiello receives multi-year contract extension

Steve Masiello is not going anywhere, at least for the moment.

Masiello, whose five-year tenure at Manhattan College has been highlighted by back-to-back Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championships since assuming the reins, has agreed to a multi-year contract extension. First reported by ESPN's Jeff Goodman, the pact inked by Masiello and Manhattan is a four-year extension, which will take both sides through the 2019-20 season.

"I am very happy about the opportunity to continue to lead the men's basketball team at Manhattan College," Masiello said through a release issued by Manhattan's athletic communications office. "I am grateful for the commitment shown by the administration to me and the program, and I am excited to build on our success in the coming years."

"We are delighted to have a coach of Steve's caliber on board for four more years," said interim athletic director Tom O'Connor. "He is an excellent teacher of basketball, and we look forward to continued success in the future."

Masiello, 38, is 91-70 lifetime as head coach of the Jaspers. Manhattan begins its MAAC tournament run tonight against Marist, with tipoff at the Times Union Center scheduled for 9 p.m.
